can anyone in chicago help this poor doggie?

Does anyone know of someone that can temporarily take in this cute little guy that just lost his leg? Doc (pictures attached), a German Sheperd is 10.5 months old and just underwent a couple of surgeries. He needs a quiet place to rest and recuperate. Please feel free to forward to anyone that may be interested in taking him in for a little while until he gets better. He is currently at Chicago Canine Rescue. His photo will take you to the person you can contact if you can help.

i need to stay away from these types of posts. if this guy was in my area i would have soooooo ran out and picked him up, probably along with all the cats at the resuce, and steve would end up killing me.

bleh!

the weekend went by way too quickly. friday night and saturday during the day i spent sewing together my bustle cage for diabolique (which still isn't finished, because i keep forgetting to buy things to make it).

saturday night's plans to go to shadowland were ruined when i ate spoiled food. in my defense it didn't smell or taste funny. it had no taste at all, so i just added butter and salt to remedy the situation. but oh. it was spoiled. and then the night was.

sunday steve and i went down to jewelers row, and steve picked out a wedding band. so it's all ordered and paid for. we just need to pick it up when it comes in. so yay! one less thing to do. we've also picked out an apartment for the move in the spring. it's a two bedroom, a lot bigger kitchen, bigger living room, more storage. so it'll look a little empty since we don't own a lot of furniture. it just looks like we do since everything is so cramped, and half of it is shop/model making stuff. i desire a tv console (since the craftman's toolbox it currently resides on is a little ghetto fantastic, and that will be in the work room in the new place) and end tables for the sofa.

steve, jeremy and i are going to shampoo next week (the night before thanksgiving). i'm preparing what to wear now. because i always fret over my last minute decisions. i'll be wearing my new lady is a tramp II outfit from lip service. i have an adorable hat i found at target. now i just need the right shoes. i was thinking these:

they'll be nice and multi purpose. but i'm not sure if i love them. but do i need to love all of my shoes?

so the leather corest dress i purchased off of ebay (from another power seller who failed to mention the outrageous shipping time) may not arrive in time for diabolique.... this leaves me in a really bad spot. i sort of need the portion of my body that the corset covered, well, covered. time to get to the fabric store for potential patterns.

i hate having to rethink an outfit after i've decided how i want to look.

happy belated halloween everyone!

the holiday was spent helping my sister and her husband move into their first house. steve and i were the only people who showed up on time. so myself, steve, dave, marianne and her mother in law addie loaded the moving van ourselves. luckily their friends jen and paul got there about 3/4's of the way into loading and helped with the remaining stuff while we took a break.

when we got to the new house the "second shift" showed up and we didn't need to load the van ourselves.

napped afterwards. then we got ready for the halloween party. everyone looked great! steve successfully ruined the catholic school girl fantasy for several people.

in an attempt to stick to my plan of woking on one project at a time, i went to the fabric store and picked up only what i needed. gold netting to trim off my rococo gown and sheer brown fabric for my bustle cage for diabolique. then i forgot to bring them home from steve's. oh well, gotta start somewhere!

working on my papercraft coraline doll (since the ebay seller *forgot* to mention in the auction listing that the doll i ordered was a pre-order, and wouldn't be shipped until some time in november). i can't find my elmers glue, so i'll have to get more tomorrow to finish te doll. but i do have blue yarn and black buttons to make it a little more fun. i still need to give my blue wig the proper haircut.

all in all this is a pretty easy costume. i haven't decided if i want to make a messenger bag to carry a black cat in. i don't want to start a project i might not have time to finish. i can't remember what her bag looked like, i can't find a photo, and my movie is at steve's :(

it's about damn time the history channel started playing halloweeny stuff, even if it is cheesy.

i have nothing to wear...

ok. so that may be a slight exaggeration. i do have things to wear out tonight. but i'm running into a few problems.

(1) they don't quite fit properly. it's either items are too big or too small. i'm hovering in this in between weight i sometimes am.

(2) half finished. this is several larger problems rolled into one. half finished pieces or half finished outfits. i either need to fix something, hem something, add a dart, let something out, find the proper hair, missing the right finishing touches...  i have several outfits i've started working on, and am waiting to get the right hat, boots, top, when the money arrived. but then i forget about it and start a whole new cycle of incomplete projects. i've also been bargain shopping more and more, which does get me great deals. but unfinished looks.

(3) forgot i didn't have it anymore. i sold a lot of items to help finance those several months in japan. items i used to have are long gone, but since i liquidated so much i sort of forgot i don't have them anymore. not to mention items i've had for a very long time are starting to wear out all at the same time. i just had to throw out a pair of once lovely boots that begged for the sweet embrace of the trash bag, and then my one basic vinyl skirt died at the party last weekend.

(4) worn a million times before (again, a million may be a slight exaggeration). i feel like the last several times i've gone out dancing i've been wearing the same things again and again.

i'm trying to figure out a way to solve this issue. working out might help a little, but it doesn't solve all my issues. i think i need to create a project list for both shopping and sewing. i can't start something until i've finished something (unless it's bargain hunting, i can't pass upa  good deal. like getting the kambriel gown. but if i get something that needs a little work i NEED to do it right away. because then i hang it in the closet and forget it needs work).

if i ever win the lottery my plan is to hire a personal shopper and a full time seamstress.

anyone interested?

i was also able to add to my domo holiday collection. i picked up frankenstein and pumpkin domo. i didn't like the dracula or devil domo that much.

i have easter bunny ears domo, and need to get all of the christmas ones, as they are all hysterical.

this is pretty much the extent of my holiday decorating, outside of the 3 foot afront to the lord tree that steve and i put up for christmas.

dead tired

plans go to out friday were foiled when i feel asleep. embarrassingly early. but i must have been tired because the near 12 hours of sleep were refreshing. not that 12 hours is a record for me by any means. i felt bad, but it worked out because i woke up early enough on saturday to get things done in time for an afternoon nap.

had a very fun time at hollow_01 and dreamer92703's party. i salute the ladies that showed up with the 1940's hairstyles. we took photos with steve's camera, so i don't have any to post right now. my skirt began to rip early during the evening, but luckily it stoped short of completely tasteless, and i managed to keep my back to the walls most of the night. looking over my skirt this morning the fabric actually started to seperate in different layers. i think that skirt is at least 4 years old, and vinyl has a very short life span for the most part. i also learned that i will be completely useless against any robot attack, as my aim is less than accurate. we arrived home around 2:30, and i woke up at 8. this really works to my advantage as i need to get to sleep early tonight.

today was spent cleaning, as most sundays often are. i need to find out what my new hours will be once i start full time. i am really hoping tomorrow is the last 5 am day.

venture bros. season 4 starts tonight. alas, i need to sleep. luckily it'll be available to watch on adult swim's site tomorrow. hopefully i can catch all the other episodes as they air (if i don't have to wake up so butt ass early on mondays).

garrison hat!

  • Oct. 15th, 2009 at 7:03 PM
sinister plan
i finished the hat with over a day to spare! steve's planning ahead theory and doing stuff in advance may be worth it. not the best hat i ever made, but there will be dim lights, and steve will be pantless, so no one will notice (kidding about the pantless, no worries). now to see if i have the right shoes for the outfit, and if i need to do hat things for steve. after that, getting the stuff together for the desert we'll be bringing.

eeee! i am so excited to be dressing up and going out!

here's the hat, displayed on the smallest foam head with the flat-est nose:

100_0484 by you.

bah!

  • Oct. 14th, 2009 at 2:56 PM

still haven't found the pants for steve. so even if we did find them they wouldn't arrive in time. but i'm still on the hunt so he can have the complete outfit.

i did find a garrison hat pattern for my outfit, so yay! i won't be hatless.

i finally found a larger printed version (not large print for old people, but a larger size print) of shogun. i love that book but the wee little version that i have makes my eyes bleed whenever i read it.

in other news, i'll definately be expanding the colors of feathers offered in my shop. people keep asking for more, so i'll give it a try.

catalog

  • Oct. 12th, 2009 at 4:40 PM

lots of people are asking about my feathers, so i've decided to start putting a catalog together. i've made up a breakdown of wholesale prices, and i suppose the next best thing to do would be to figure out what colors and types of feathers are available to wholesale. i can't offer the seconds as wholesale, since those are randomly in the regular plumes.

the colors i have available right now are white, red, black, blue, purple, gold and baby blue. i'm not sure what colors to have. my hot pink has been really popular, so i think that should be top of the list to add. i did have green and burgundy available, but they didn't seem as popular. once i have a large quantity available, it's ok. it's just a matter of figuring out which to have available first.

growing fustrated that i can't find any leads for those pants. and that ebay sellers are telling me lip service's classic veggi leather matte vinyl match the style of the jacket. please. i don't buy that bullshit. i know they don't match. just because something is "vinyl" doesn't makes it match.
